The short version
HealthPort reads health data from Apple Health on your iPhone, turns it into a file, and saves that file to a destination you choose. All of that happens on your device. TidyByte Development operates no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and receives none of your data — not your health data, not your identity, not your usage of the app.
The only data that ever leaves your iPhone is the export file itself, and it leaves only to the destination you selected.
Health data
HealthPort reads health and fitness data from Apple's HealthKit, and only after you have granted permission through Apple's own permission screen. You control which categories it may read, both in iOS Settings and within HealthPort itself. Metrics you switch off inside the app are never requested from HealthKit at all.
The data HealthPort can read includes, depending on your choices and what your devices record: steps, distance, flights climbed, active and resting energy, exercise and stand time, heart rate and resting heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, body temperature, blood pressure, blood glucose, weight, BMI, body fat and lean mass, waist circumference, walking speed, step length, walking asymmetry, double support time, walking steadiness, stair speeds, VO₂ max, six-minute walk distance, daylight time, audio exposure, water and nutrition, and sleep stages with their timings and sources.
We do not use your health data for anything. It is not sent to us, not aggregated, not analysed, not used to train anything, and not sold, shared or disclosed to any third party by us. HealthPort reads it, formats it, and hands the result to you.
In line with Apple's requirements, health data obtained through HealthKit is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never disclosed to data brokers, information resellers or similar businesses.
Where your file goes
You choose a destination for each export, and the choice is yours to change at any time:
- Files — the file is written into HealthPort's own folder on your device. It does not leave your iPhone.
- iCloud Drive — the file is written to your iCloud Drive, under your own Apple Account. It is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it.
- Google Drive — the file is uploaded from your iPhone directly to your own Google Drive. See the next section.
Once a file reaches a destination, it is yours and it is governed by whatever terms apply to that destination. HealthPort keeps a local history of past runs on your device so you can see what was exported and when; you can delete any entry, and its file, from within the app.
Google Drive and Google account data
Connecting Google Drive is entirely optional and off until you choose it. If you connect it:
- You sign in to Google directly. HealthPort never sees, handles or stores your Google password.
-
HealthPort requests a single, narrow permission — Google's
drive.filescope — which lets it see and manage only the files it creates itself. It cannot read, list or touch anything else in your Google Drive. - The resulting access and refresh tokens are stored in your device's Keychain and used only to upload your export files. They are never transmitted to us, because there is nowhere to transmit them to.
- HealthPort's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not transfer it to others except as required by law.
- You can disconnect at any time in HealthPort's Settings, which discards the stored tokens, and you can revoke HealthPort's access from your Google Account permissions page.
What we collect
Nothing. HealthPort contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no tracking of any kind, and no user accounts. It makes no network requests other than to Apple's own services and, if and only if you have connected Google Drive, to Google's sign-in and Drive endpoints on your behalf.
Because we hold no data about you, we cannot identify you, profile you, or respond to a request for a copy of "your data" held by us — there is none.
Retention and deletion
HealthPort's settings, its export history and any export files still on the device are stored locally on your iPhone. Deleting the app removes all of it. Files you have already sent to iCloud Drive or Google Drive remain there until you delete them yourself, as you would expect of anything saved to your own storage.
Children
HealthPort is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone — of any age — because we collect no data at all.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (South Africa), the GDPR, or comparable laws, including rights of access, correction, deletion and objection. Those rights are exercised against whoever holds your data. For HealthPort, that is you: the data is on your device and in your chosen storage, under your control, and you can inspect or delete it directly. We are not in a position to hold, and do not hold, personal information about you.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the effective date above and note material changes within the app where appropriate.
