Flipt Privacy Policy

This policy covers Flipt for iPad. It is a separate policy from the ones covering This is My Life and HealthPort, because Flipt handles different data in a different way.

The short version

Flipt is a PDF reader. It keeps copies of the PDFs you import in its own storage on your iPad, and shows them to you. All of that happens on your device. TidyByte Development operates no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and receives none of your data — not your documents, not your identity, not how you use the app.

Flipt does not connect to the internet. It contains no code that sends information anywhere.

Your documents

When you import a PDF, Flipt copies it into its own private storage on your iPad so that it stays available if you move or delete the original. Flipt also keeps a small list on your iPad with each document’s title, page count, the page you last read, and when you added and last opened it, so it can show your Library and reopen a document where you stopped.

Your documents may contain personal or sensitive information. Flipt does not read, analyse, upload, share or sell their contents. It draws them on screen and prepares the pages next to the one you are reading, on your iPad, so that a page turn is quick.

Your settings, such as the corner size, light or dark mode and zoom preferences, are stored on your iPad.

Face ID and Touch ID

If you turn on Require Face ID, Flipt asks iOS to check your face (or fingerprint, on an iPad with Touch ID) when you open the app or return to it. The check is carried out by your iPad. Flipt is told only whether it succeeded, and never receives, sees or stores your face or fingerprint data. If it fails, you can use your iPad passcode instead.

Siri and Spotlight

With Allow Siri & Spotlight on, which is the default, Flipt gives your iPad the title and page count of each document so that you can find a document from the Home Screen, Spotlight or Siri, and ask Siri to open it. This information stays on your iPad and is handled by Apple’s search and Siri features on the device, under Apple’s privacy policy. The contents of your documents are not shared with Siri or Spotlight.

You can turn this off in Settings, under Privacy & Security. Flipt then removes all of its documents from search straight away.

What we collect

Nothing. Flipt contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no tracking of any kind, no third-party software development kits and no user accounts. It makes no network requests.

Because we hold no data about you, we cannot identify you, profile you, or respond to a request for a copy of “your data” held by us — there is none.

Backups

Like other apps, Flipt’s storage on your iPad is included in your iPad’s normal backup if you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer. That backup is made and held by Apple or by you, under your own account or on your own computer, and we have no access to it.

If you email support

Contact Support in the app opens an email to us in your own Mail app. It contains only our address and a subject line with the app version. Nothing is sent until you press send in Mail, and then your message reaches us through your email provider. We use what you write only to answer you, and we ask you not to attach your documents.

Retention and deletion

Flipt’s documents, Library list and settings are stored only on your iPad. Deleting a document in Flipt removes its copy; your original file is not affected. Deleting the Flipt app removes everything it stores on the device.

Children

Flipt is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone — of any age — because we collect no data at all.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (South Africa), the GDPR, or comparable laws, including rights of access, correction, deletion and objection. Those rights are exercised against whoever holds your data. For Flipt, that is you: the data is on your iPad, under your control, and you can inspect or delete it directly. We are not in a position to hold, and do not hold, personal information about you.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the effective date above and note material changes within the app where appropriate.
