They are separate, independently-built apps with their own storage and their own platform integrations — nothing you enter in one is sent to or synced with the other, except when you explicitly export your story and import it into the other app yourself. Read the section below for whichever app you use; where the apps differ (iCloud vs. local-only storage, Apple sign-in vs. no accounts, App Store vs. Google Play billing), each section says so plainly.
This is My Life for iOS
Our approach
This is My Life is built to be private by design. Your life story — your profile, moments, photos, videos, locations, categories, and family members — is stored on your device and, if you enable it, synced to your own private iCloud account. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal content, and we cannot access it.
Information we process
Content you create — profile details, moments, photos and videos, locations, categories, and family members — stays on your device and in your private iCloud (if enabled). It never reaches us.
For Sign in with Apple, we receive an anonymous identifier and, only on your first sign-in, the name and email address you choose to share. This is used solely for sign-in and app personalization.
Purchases made through Apple's App Store are processed by Apple. We neither receive nor store your payment details.
How your data is stored
Your story is held in local app storage on your device. If iCloud is turned on, it also syncs through Apple's iCloud using your Apple ID, governed by Apple's own privacy policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
Permissions we request
The app requests permissions only when needed:
- Photos — to add photos and videos to moments.
- Camera — to capture new photos.
- Contacts — to import family member details (only the details you select are copied locally).
- Location — to tag moment locations.
- Face ID / Touch ID — for optional app locking, handled entirely by your device; we never receive biometric data.
You can change or revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not use third-party advertising. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not share your content with anyone.
Third-party services
We rely on Apple for Sign in with Apple, iCloud sync, and App Store purchases, each governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy. No other third-party service receives your personal content.
Data retention and deletion
You control your content:
- Edit or delete moments, photos, profiles, or family members within the app at any time.
- Export a full copy of your story from Settings.
- Delete your entire story and profile from Settings.
- Removing the app deletes its local copies on your device; iCloud data is managed through your Apple ID.
Children's privacy
This is My Life is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Content stays on the user's device and iCloud, never reaching us.
This is My Life for Android
Our approach
This is My Life for Android does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your personal data. There is no account, no server, and no analytics or advertising SDK in the app. Everything you enter — your profile, life moments, photos, and family members — is stored only in the app's private storage on your own device. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal content, and we cannot access it.
Information we process
- Life moments, categories, and family member details you enter are stored in a local database on your device. This never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
- Photos you attach are copied into the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere by the app.
- Contacts — the optional “Fill from Contacts” feature opens Android's own contact picker. The app only receives the single name/photo you choose to fill a field with; it never reads or stores your full contact list.

Backup export/import — you can export your data
to a single
.jsonfile (and matching media) for your own safekeeping, or to move data between your own devices. This file is written wherever you choose (e.g. your device's Downloads folder, or a cloud drive you pick via Android's share sheet) — we do not upload this file anywhere ourselves. The same format can also be used for a one-time transfer to/from the separate iOS app; there is no ongoing sync between the two.
How your data is stored
Your story is held entirely in local app storage on your device — there is no cloud sync equivalent to iCloud for the Android app.
Permissions we request
The Android app does not request Android runtime permissions for photos or contacts. It uses Android's system photo picker and contact picker, which hand the app only the specific item you select without granting it broader access to your library or address book.
In-app purchases (planned)
A future version of the Android app is expected to offer an optional paid upgrade via Google Play's own in-app billing. Any such purchase would be processed entirely by Google Play — we would not receive or store your payment details. This section will be updated when that feature ships.

Children's privacy
This is My Life is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age, since we do not collect personal information at all.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Because your content is stored on your own device (and, for the iOS app, your own iCloud) — not on our servers — you can exercise these rights directly within whichever app you use, at any time. We may update this policy from time to time, revising the effective date above and noting material changes within the relevant app as appropriate.
